Proper care during the healing process is crucial for a long-lasting tattoo. Follow my aftercare instructions to ensure your new tattoo heals beautifully! Feel free to contact me with any questions.
WITH SECOND SKIN
⋆˙⟡ Leave bandage on for up to three days.
⋆˙⟡ When removing bandage, pull corner like a command strip rather than peeling back like a sticker. Taking it off in the shower can also make removal easier.
⋆˙⟡ Wash 2x a day with warm water and antibacterial soap (e.g. Dial Gold).
⋆˙⟡ Moisturize with white, unscented lotion (e.g. Lubriderm)
⋆˙⟡ Do not pick at/scratch your tattoo--it will flake a bit while healing.
⋆˙⟡ Avoid submerging your tattoo in water (no pools, baths, lakes etc.). Showering is fine.
⋆˙⟡ Avoid exposing your tattoo to direct sunlight.
WITH ABSORBANT BANDAGE
⋆˙⟡ Leave bandage on for approximately one hour.
⋆˙⟡ Wash 2x a day with warm water and antibacterial soap (e.g. Dial Gold).
⋆˙⟡ Apply THIN layer of Aquaphor or A&D ointment for the first three days. After that, switch to a white, unscented lotion (e.g. Lubriderm).
⋆˙⟡ Do not pick at/scratch your tattoo--it will flake a bit while healing.
⋆˙⟡ Avoid submerging your tattoo in water (no pools, baths, lakes etc.). Showering is fine.
⋆˙⟡ Avoid exposing your tattoo to direct sunlight.
FAQ
THIS IS MY FIRST TATTOO, WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?
Tattoos do hurt! However, they are tolerable and I aim to provide as painless of an experience as possible. Placements can very pain-wise but generally can be likened to a cat scratch. Here are some helpful tips to make your tattoo a bit easier:
⋆˙⟡ Be sure to eat a full meal and drink water prior to your appointment (this really really helps!) We provide complimentary snacks and drinks but feel free to bring your own as well!
⋆˙⟡ Avoid alcohol for the 24 hours leading up to your appointment.
⋆˙⟡ Wear dark, loose-fitting clothes that are both comfortable and provide easy access to the area you're getting tattooed.
How much does a tattoo cost?
I charge $160/hour (unless a piece is already priced at a flat rate) and I am happy to give you an estimate based on the information in your form! This can be subject to change based on size and placement as well as the process of the tattoo itself.
CAN I SEE THE DESIGN PRIOR TO MY APPOINTMENT?
I generally only begin drawing within 24-48 hours of the appointment. Your design will be good to go as soon as you show up and if changes need to be made, please don't hesitate to let me know at that point--tattoos are only permanent!
WHAT PAYMENT METHODS CAN BE USED?
I can accept cash or card! My card reader does take a 3% fee, so consider bringing cash if you'd like to avoid that.
HOW DOES BOOKING AN APPOINTMENT WORK?
To book an appointment or consult fill out my form here! After we've decided on a date, I will send an invoice for a nonrefundable deposit of $100 to secure your spot and cover my drawing time. This is NOT an additional fee and will come off of the final price of your tattoo! If you need to reschedule, let me know at least 48 hours in advance as to not forfeit the deposit.
CAN YOU TATTOO OVER SCARS?
Yes! I would like to take a look at them beforehand (Either clear photos or in-person) and know how old they are, but I am very comfortable tattooing over scar tissue. I have experience tattooing over scarring from cuts, burns, grafted skin, as well as top surgery and breast augmentation.
CAN I BRING A FRIEND?
It's totally fine to have one or two friends along for support. Groups larger than that are not advised unless you're all getting tattooed as we like to keep the shop a calm environment for everyone. We also cannot accommodate children, as you must be at least 18 years old to enter the shop.
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
I am at Pink Widow Tattoo located inside of Hide House Creative at 2625 S. Greeley St. Unit #230 Milwaukee, WI 53214. We are on the second floor!
There is a "private" parking lot located right across the street as well as street parking.
